From 6 April 2016 The Party Wall Act 1996 will provide an easier procedure for serving notices and documents. The Party Wall Act 1996 provides a statutory framework to enable neighbours who share a boundary to carry out building work. In the past you have had to deliver notices and documents of your intention to carry out works personally to the person or body corporate. However, as from 6 April 2016 you will be able to serve notices and documents via electronic communications.
The Act will allow you to send notices and documents through electronic means as long as the recipient has stated a willingness to receive the notices and documents through this method.
This new order generates a more convenient procedure and will result in tight deadlines being easily met. It is also less burdensome on the person hoping to carry out new works, as they no longer have to deliver the notices and documents personally to the other party.
